Scientific Background :RIPK4 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that interacts with protein kinase C-delta which can also activate NFkappaB and is required for keratinocyte differentiation and it undergoes autophosphorylation. RIPK4 is a direct transcriptional target of p63, a known regulator of stratified epithelial development which acts as a nodal point in the cascade of molecular events that prevent pterygium syndromes (1). RIPK4 functions in the epidermis through PKC specific signaling pathways to regulate differentiation and inflammation (2).
