Scientific Background : USP15 (ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 15) is a member of the ubiquitin specific protease (USP) family of cysteine protease deubiquitination enzymes and regulates TGFB receptor signaling, NF-kappa-B and RNF41/NRDP1-PRKN pathways. The enzyme interacts with OP9 signalosome and is a key regulator of TGFB receptor signaling through deubiquitination of receptor-activated SMAD transcription factors (1). USP15 also plays a role in the regulation and stabilization of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 E6 protein, suggesting that E6 may be a target for USP15 DUB activity (2).
