Description :Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Species :

Tag :

Expression System:

Sequence :

Specificity :Recognizes the XIAP protein

Cited Applications :WB, ELISA, IF, IHC

Cross Reactivity :Human and Mouse

Host / Isotype / Clone# :Rabbit, IgG

Immunogen :XIAP antibody was raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to 13 amino acids at the C-terminus of human XIAP

Purification :Affinity chromatography

Stability :Store at 4oC (add 0.1% NaN3) for several months, and at -20oC for longer periods. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

Sample Data :Western blot analysis of XIAP in human kidney lysate with XIAP antibody at 0.5 (lane A), 1 (lane B), and 2 (lane C) ug/ml, respectively.

Sample Data :Immunohistochemical staining of human kidney tissue using XIAP antibody at 2 ug/ml.

Scientific Background :XIAP is a member of a family of proteins which inhibit apoptosis and act as mammalian cell-death suppressors. XIAP inhibits at least 2 members of the caspase family of cell-death proteases, caspase-3 and caspase-7 (1). In addition, XIAP inhibits apoptosis induced by menadione, a potent inducer of free radicals, and ICE. Furthermore, XIAP can mediate protection of cells from apoptosis by utilizing both a JNK1 activation pathway that involves ILPIP and a caspase inhibition pathway that is independent of ILPIP (2). Disruption of the XIAP gene in human colon cancer cells can enhance sensitivity of these cells to exogenously added TRAIL suggesting that XIAP is a nonredundant modulator of TRAIL-mediated apoptosis.
