Description :Recombinant Human Resistin (RETN) was expressed in E. coli cells.

Species :Human

Tag :

Expression System:E.coli

Sequence :

Genbank Number :Q9HD89

Storage, Stability and Shipping :The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70oC. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2o - 8oC for one month, or at -20oC for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Applications :Cell Assay

Endotoxin Level :<1.0 EU/μg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.

Molecular Weight :10.0 kDa

Gene Aliases :FIZZ3, Adipose tissue-specific secretory factor, ADSF, HXCP1, RSTIN, C/EBP-epsilon-regulated myeloid-specific secreted cysteine-rich protein, Cysteine-rich secreted protein A12-alpha-like 2, Cysteine-rich secreted protein FIZZ3

Reconstitution Protocol :A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.

Scientific Background :Resistin was identified by screening for genes that are induced during the differentiation of adipocytes but down-regulated in mature adipocytes. Resistin gene expression is induced during the differentiation of adipocytes. Resistin circulates in mouse serum, and its level is increased markedly in obesity. Adipocytes secrete resistin as a unique signaling molecule that may be the hormone potentially linking obesity to type II diabetes, which is characterized by target-tissue resistance to insulin. TNF-alpha is a negative regulator of Resistin gene expression and inhibits Resistin mRNA expression and protein secretion by 70-90% in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.

Sample Cell Assay Data :Determined by its ability to stimulate lipolysis in cultured human adipocytes

Purity :Recombinant Human Resistin (RETN) resolved on a 15% SDS-PAGE gel under reducing conditions and stained with Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250
