Description :Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Species :Rabbit

Tag :

Expression System:

Sequence :

Specificity :Recognizes the MEK1 protein phosphorylated at serine 311/315

Cited Applications :WB

Cross Reactivity :Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Canine, Chicken, non-Human Primate, Xenopus and Zebrafish

Host :Rabbit, IgG

Immunogen :Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser311/Thr315 conjugated to KLH

Purification :Affinity Chromatography

Stability :Store at 4oC (add 0.1% NaN3) for several months, and at -20oC for longer periods. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

Sample Data :Western blot of rat testes lysate showing specific labeling of the ~49kDa MEK5 protein (Control). Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption with the phosphopeptide used as antigen (Peptide) but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide (not shown).

Scientific Background :MEK5, which is also known as MKK5, is a dual specificity serine/threonine protein kinase that belongs to the MAP kinase kinase family. MEK5 specifically activates ERK5 (1) and MEK5 itself is regulated by MEKK3 (2). Phosphorylation of MEK5 at Ser311 and Thr315 has been implicated in cell proliferation (3). Indeed, there is an important link between MEK5 and metastatic prostate cancer (4).
