Description :Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Species :

Tag :

Expression System:

Sequence :

Specificity :Recognizes the BAX protein

Cited Applications :WB, ELISA, ICC, IF

Cross Reactivity :Human

Host / Isotype / Clone# :Rabbit, IgG

Immunogen :BAX antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding to 16 amino acids near the amino-terminus of human BAX

Purification :Affinity chromatography

Stability :Store at 4oC (add 0.1% NaN3) for several months, and at -20oC for longer periods. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

Sample Data :Western blot analysis of BAX in HL-60 cell lysates with BAX antibody at (A) 1, (B) 2, and (C) 4 ug/ml.

Sample Data :Immunocytochemistry staining of HL-60 cells using BAX at 2 ug/ml.

Scientific Background :BAX is a proapoptotic protein of the BCL2 protein family. BAX forms a heterodimer with BCL2 and functions as an apoptotic activator. BAX interacts with and increases the opening of the mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC), which leads to the loss in the mitochondrial membrane potential and the release of cytochrome c (1). The expression of BAX gene is regulated by the tumor suppressor p53 and BAX has been shown to be involved in p53-mediated apoptosis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants, which encode different isoforms, have been reported for this gene (2).
