Scientific Background : TDO2 or tryptophan 2, 3-dioxygenase is a heme enzyme that plays a critical role in tryptophan metabolism by catalyzing the first and rate-limiting step of the kynurenine pathway (1). TDO2 may play a role in cancer and immune biology through the suppression of antitumor immune responses, and single nucleotide polymorphisms in TDO2 may be associated with autism (2).
